Our Care

Long Term Care

Ivybank Care Home aims to provide its residents with a secure, relaxed, and homely environment in which their care, well-being and comfort is of prime importance.

Our Carers will strive to preserve and maintain the dignity, individuality and privacy of all residents within a warm and caring atmosphere, and in doing so will be sensitive to the residents ever changing needs.

Such needs may be medical/therapeutic (for physical and mental welfare), cultural, psychological, spiritual, emotional and social and residents are encouraged to participate in the development of their individualised Plan of Care, as are family and friends where appropriate.

This will be achieved through programmes of activities designed to encourage mental alertness, self esteem, and social interaction with other residents and with recognition of the core values of care which are fundamental to the philosophy of our home.

Respite Care

Respite Care is the provision of short-term, temporary relief to those who are caring for family members who might otherwise require permanent placement in a facility outside the home.

The reality is that there are times when even the most loving and dedicated of carers need a break. There can be any number of reasons for this; perhaps the carer is themselves unwell or has to be elsewhere, or maybe they are taking a well deserved holiday? This is where we can help. Ivybank Care Home has dedicated rooms offering 24-hour care for those requiring this temporary residential service.

There should be no guilt attached to taking time away from a person for whom you care, but sadly, there often is. Ivybank Care Home are here to help alleviate that and you can be confident that that person is being looked after by people who not only professional, but who really do care too.

Respite care at our home is also an excellent way of familiarising service user with our surrounding and people, so if/when a permanent move into residential care becomes necessary, they already feel at home with us.

Day Care

Our Day Care service is generally used by two groups of people. Firstly, by people who are living at home, perhaps alone, who are looking for somewhere to socialise and enjoy themselves, but in a safe and caring environment. We can provide a full day service, with all meals included, during which the service user can mix with people of their own age and take part in the wide range of activities designed to stimulate both mind and body.

Others who us the service may live with a full time carer, but join us for the day to perhaps give them a well deserved break or to cover those times when their carer is at work or has other commitments.

Day Care can be hugely beneficial both emotionally, spiritually and practically and can also familiarise the user with life inside a residential home, making a possible transition to full time care less daunting.

Palliative Care

Palliative care incorporates all elements of the daily life of a person nearing the end of their life. This includes personal care: strip and/or bed wash, mouth care, incontinence care, feeding, and aspects of domestic chores.

Ivybank Care Home recognises that the delivery of quality end of life care services to individuals, their relatives and friends require effective communication, empathy and understanding of the needs of the persons being cared for and the emotional expectations of their family members. Our care services ensure that these expectations are met through careful observation and monitoring and appropriate feedback.

Ivybank Care Home provides a dignified, sensitive and person-centred support, to meet the total needs of the resident.
